Greenland is an absolute paradise for the angler, one of the last remaining wildernesses, and the Robinson River is one of Greenland's classic arctic char waters.

Only a 2-hour boat ride from the airport at Kangerlussuaq, the Robinson is a typical fast flowing river, running through many, varied, pools, as it makes it's way through the landscape.

The river is fed by glacial melt-water, and although the strong currents and slightly milky colour of the water is best suited to spin-fishimg, fly fisherman can find numerous slower runs and pools if they are to walk a kilometer or two upstream. On average, spin fishermen can expect returns of 5 - 30 arctic char per day, while fly-fishermen normally land between 5 - 15 arctic char. The average weight of arctic char in the river is around 1.5 kg, while the largest arctic char caught here during 2010 was 5.7kg. It is also possible to fish in the fjord, which offers good saltwater angling for really fresh, bright silver arctic char. If you are in reasonable shape, you can try walking the 7km upstream to the lake, to try fishing where the Robinson River has it's source. Over the years many good char have been taken in the lake.

Our partners in Greenland set up and provision the fishing camp which is pitched on the banks of the river. The camp consists of large, spacious tents equipped with stoves and camp beds. Our partners also provide a guide/camp leader, who takes care of preparing all the meals, leaving guests to concentrate 100% on the fishing.

Visitors to this part of Greenland are greeted by breathtaking scenery, pure clean air, and endless views, no matter what time of year they visit. The district has a rich fauna, and meetings with musk ox, reindeer, ptarmigan and gyrfalcon are part of everyday life here. The close proximity of the inland ice (which is only 25km away) and Kangerlussuaq's location far "inland" from Greenland's west coast means that the area has a rather continental climate with stable weather, little rainfall, many hours of sunshine and with warm summers and cold winters. As the air is very dry, the "low" temperatures here do not feel anywhere as near as cold as they would in Western Europe. By Greenland's own standards, the landscape here is relatively gentle, and is reminisent of the fells of Northern Scandinavia.  Although the landscape might be best described as highlands/tundra, the flora here is surprisingly rich. The rounded hills typically reach an altitude of 300-700m above sea-level. Despite of the very dry climate, there are many lakes scattered around the district, as the permafrost water from simply draining away.
